Biggest Animal In The World
There are so many interesting animal species on our planet and all these animals are certainly amazing, but which one is the biggest animal in the world?
You might think that it is an elephant, but it’s not. The biggest animal on our planet is the blue whale. Elephants are the biggest land animals with the weigh of more than 12 tons. The weigh of 13 and half tons was the weight of the heaviest one ever measured. Still, the biggest blue whale ever measured had around 180 tons (180.000 kg!) and it was 30 m long (nearly one hundred feet).
Those measures mean this specific type of whale can be long as 10-floor building and weigh more than 110 adult giraffes. However, an average big blue whale is usually around 80 feet long. Female whales are proven to weigh more than males. A head of the biggest animal in the world is so big and wide that 50 people can stand on its tongue!

Big blue whale’s heart has the size of a small car and arteries are spacey enough for a human being to go through. Blue whale new born is usually 8 m long and heavy as an adult elephant. When it comes to feeding, blue whale new born can drink almost 4 hundred liters of mother’s milk every day. It means that in that period they gain 90 kilograms a day!
Even though the dinosaurs are thought to be the biggest animals that have ever walked on our planet – the facts say that the biggest land dinosaur had just around 90 tons. Scientists claim that the biggest animal in the world has to be a sea creature. That is because the water helps them very much when it comes to moving with the least effort.
Unfortunately, the blue whale is on the list of endangered species which is why whaling was officially banned by law in 1960s.
