What is the biggest pumpkin in the world? Each year, a group of pumpkin lovers gathers to compete! They are trying to break the world record for the biggest pumpkin in the world. The record breaker was the pumpkin that weighed more than 1800 pounds.

The Biggest Pumpkins in the World
- The biggest pumpkin in the world for 2009 was Christy Harp’s pumpkin that weighed more than 1700 pounds. There is a considerable difference in weight of this pumpkin and the current record holder. Christy Harp showed up with a pumpkin that weighed 1725 pounds. It was October 2009. Everyone was astonished by the look of this pumpkin. Christy Harp is a teacher from Ohio. She was interested in growing pumpkins, and she came up with the idea of setting the new world record for the biggest pumpkin in the world. This lady was persistent and she did it! Now, her goal is to grow a pumpkin that will weigh more than 2000 pounds.

- The previous record holder (from 2007) was the pumpkin that belonged to Joe Jutras from Rhode Island. The pumpkin weighed nearly 1690 pounds. This was the record for 2007.
- The previous record holder (in 2006) was Ron Wallace’s pumpkin that weighed more than1500 pounds.
- The record holder for 2005 was Larry Checkon’s pumpkin that weighed nearly 1470 pounds.
- In 2004, the record holder was Al Eaton’s pumpkin that weighed more than 1440 pounds.
